Save the Date: Leveraged Finance Fights Melanoma 10th annual charity event planned for Sept. 30 at Museum of Modern Art in NYC

The 10th?annual Leveraged Finance Fights Melanoma charity event is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 30, at?the Museum of Modern Art Sculpture?Garden located 18 West 54th Street in Manhattan, from 6:30–9 p.m. ET.?Sponsorship information is now available here online.

Started in 2012, the event benefits the Melanoma Research Alliance (MRA), the largest private nonprofit funder of melanoma research. This year's event will celebrate 10 years of fundraising and awareness through LFFM, as well as a return to in-person gathering at a beautiful new indoor and outdoor event space — the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden.

Last year, despite the pandemic and canceled event in May, the LFFM community?supported a virtual event by raising $1.6?million.?Virtual LFFM was hosted by financier and philanthropist Michael?Milken and featured an interview with?Orlando Bravo, the founder and managing partner of Thoma Bravo. The presentation was archived and can be viewed online.

A?record $2.5?million was raised in 2019?through the attendance, participation, donation and sponsorship of nearly 1,000 members of the leveraged finance community. Since 2012, the leveraged finance community has raised $14 million to advance melanoma research with 100% of proceeds going directly to research through MRA.

The funds have played a direct role in developing FDA-approved immunotherapy treatments and molecularly targeted treatments for melanoma and other forms of cancer. Since MRA began its work, 12?new treatments have become available to melanoma patients.

Co-chairs for this year's LFFM event committee follow: Clare Bailhé?of MidCap Financial, Brendan Dillon of UBS, Kerry Dolan of PSP Investments, Lee Grinberg of Elliott Management, George Mueller of KKR, A.J. Murphy of 40North, Geoff Oltmans of Silver Lake, Jeff Rowbottom of Iron Park Capital, Ian Schuman of Latham & Watkins, Cade Thompson of KKR, Trevor Watt of Hellman & Friedman and Eric Wedel of Kirkland & Ellis. Attendees include the most prominent names in leveraged finance from the top banks, investment houses, law firms, issuers and private-equity sponsors.
