Savannah Bananas Plan Z by Jared Orton

Savannah Bananas Plan Z by Jared Orton

Thanks for being so flexible through all of this change and thanks for trusting in the process of us figuring out the best possible solution to make this season go.

We're playing. I think we always knew we would play. But the scenarios changed every week. Every day, really. It speaks to our 'figure it out' mindset. Very easily, we could say, "Well this won't work. And this is stacked against us. And this will make it harder. And this will be a problem."

But that was never an option. We always find a way. There is always some sort of solution.

Whether you work here for the next 5 years, 5 months, or 5 decades, I hope you'll remember this season as the year we did the impossible. We did what everyone else said couldn't be done. We did what others simply wouldn't even dare to try. We found a solution. Wherever you go, whatever you do, whether here or somewhere else, find a solution. Find a way. It's what winners do.

I want to address the issues that are in our world as well.

First off - you should be proud to live in Savannah. What happened in this city on Sunday didn't get enough press. The fact that so many people came together to protest peacefully when there was so much chaos across the country was remarkable.

A few people on our team have asked about what we should post or say or do.

Truthfully, I'm unsure. I believe that we certainly have a large platform to say something. However, I absolutely cringe at generalized blanket statements. Anyone can jump on photoshop and put text on a background. We will never do things just to 'check the box' or 'do what everyone else is doing'. We should always stay true to our brand and fans, but we should be cognizant of our world as well.

What we will always do is encourage you to do is bring up ideas. Bring up conversation. How can we join in on things while still being on brand? How can we actually DO something that helps? How can it be more than just a graphic posted on social media? How can it be more than just a generic statement or along status quo?

I'll tell you I'm having these conversations with Kelsey regularly. How do we share compassion with people? How do we raise Collins? How do we make sure that our actions reflect who we say we are?

If you want to talk more about it, you know where to find me.

Secondly - We're establishing plans for the virus from a personnel standpoint. We know that in just a short time we are going to have an influx of players, coaches, gameday teammates, and fans. Truthfully, the odds of someone within that list of people contracting Covid is real. The alternative is shutting down indefinitely. That is our world right now. We are doing everything we know to do to plan and prepare to serve people safely. On Monday, I'll share a little more in detail about how we are tackling this issue.

I know this message has a different tone than others. But that's what you get. That's what is on my mind. This allows me to decompress and share.

You're a part of something special. You're a part of something different. You're a part of something people will never forget.
