Hello everyone,
I’m Graham Coath, and welcome to the latest edition of my newsletter!
Music was my first love and it shall be my last... (sounds like a good lyric yes?)
But it is true!
Music has been my one consistent companion throughout the ups and downs of my life.
So, let's embark on a short nostalgic trip through the soundtrack of my life and discover what music has taught me about creating meaningful connections – both in life and on social media.
Born to the Beat: Growing Up in the 70s
Being born in 1971 was like having a front-row seat to some of the greatest rock performances ever even though it was probably not until I was 10 that I really started getting it!
My mum took me to a Led Zeppelin / Pink Floyd concert before I was born! It must have had an impact! She says there was too much funny smoke!
The 70s were a golden era for rock music, and I was fortunate to grow up surrounded by the electrifying sounds of the Zepp, Deep Purple, and Yes. These bands didn’t just play music; they crafted new worlds.
Finding New Heroes in the 80s
As I transitioned into my teenage years I still loved the 70's bands but of course I embraced the synth sounds of the 80s too! The era brought a new wave of sounds and heroes into my life. Nik Kershaw's intricate lyrics and great chord changes, Prefab Sprout's sophisticated pop, and Marillion's emotional depth captured my heart. These artists taught me that music could be both complex and accessible, providing comfort and inspiration. They were my companions through the highs and lows of adolescence and remain beloved to this day.

The 90's brought me to the microphone
Throughout the 90's I was in bands and I got to meet and play with some amazing musicians. I wore my indie credentials in my hair which was much longer than it is now and coloured in more garish hues than you can care to imagine!
What does all this have to do with creating great content for social media?
Well....everything.
Music is more than just sound; it’s a bridge to our emotions and memories. It teaches us about the importance of connection. Here’s what music has taught me about creating impactful content:
Crafting Your Symphony
In the end, creating content for social media is much like a life in music. It’s about blending different elements to create a harmonious and engaging experience. Let the music of your life inspire you to create content that resonates, connects, and leaves a lasting impression.
What about the sausage dogs...what music do they love I hear you ask? Well they love whatever you put on as long as it makes you happy. Sausage Dogs are like that they want to please.
See you next time
Warm regards,
Graham Coath
