WHAT'S NEW AT SAULDERSON

The team has expanded and we’re excited to bring on 2 new hires as of May 2022.

Berglind Adolfsdottir?- Campaigns Manager

Michael Todner?- Senior Talent Manager

Both are excellent additions to the team and you can read about them both on our?LinkedIn. We’re excited for their future here at Saulderson.

We’re also really proud to announce we’ve joined ISBA and their updated Code of Conduct to uphold ethical, sustainable and positive influencer marketing. We believe in a better future for the industry and as an experienced agency in the space we’re looking to set a standard.

WHAT'S NEW IN SOCIAL MEDIA

The platforms that dominate our life are always testing and adding new exciting features. We vigorously keep track of all these changes and have clumped them in one space so you don’t need to look anywhere else.

LinkedIn:

  • Working on adding live captions to audio events (similar to Twitter)
  • Updated feed algorithm to penalise engagement-baiting posts and polls

Twitter:

  • Further explores tweet replies ad placement to all app advertisers
  • Expands test of TikTok-like display format in its explore tab
  • Testing a new conversation thread button for ‘spaces’

Meta:

  • Instagram tests New, full-screen, scrollable display of posts and reels
  • Instagram tests NFT features with select creators
  • Instagram test multiple links in bio for select creators
  • Announces new business messaging tools, including improved WhatsApp ad creation, request quote button on Instagram and more
  • States it will now pay creators for original content for Facebook Reels

TikTok:

  • Moves towards an improved Creator Monetization program called ‘Pulse’
  • Replaces ‘Discovery’ tab with ‘Friends’ tab

YouTube:

  • Plans to test live shopping

Pinterest:

  • Launches new ‘TV Studio’ app as it moves to expand on its Live Commerce Offerings

THE BUSINESS LANDSCAPE

  • US Colleges are launching classes for influencers
  • Senior business executives are pushing for face-to-face meetings over Zoom calls.
  • Streaming achieved a higher weekly reach in 18-49 year olds than linear television in 2022.
  • Netflix mentioned to its employees it aims to introduce an ad-supported tier before the end of 2022.
  • Apple is thinking of reshuffling its services division to have an emphasised focus on advertising and streaming.
  • Airbnb boasts that more than 800,000 people went to its careers page after announcing their remote work.
  • It is estimated that 49.7% of Gen Z will be purchasing through ‘buy now pay later schemes’ by 2025.

LIVE SHOPPING

Live sellers on Douyin (China’s version TikTok) claim to be making hundreds of millions of dollars per month. Due this success the UK team at ByteDance has also started live shopping on TikTok, with influencers being at the forefront of this e-commerce movement.However there is definitely a caveat, tele shopping isn’t as popular in the UK as it is in Asia; countries such as South Korea and China have a much larger selection of tele shopping channels and have a much more normalised view towards it. On the other hand the UK has fewer channels and a much more negative/skeptical attitude towards this type of practice. Therefore it’ll be interesting to see how western audiences tackle this barrier.

Influencers are definitely a potential solution to popularising live shopping in the UK, and having a more affiliate or cookie-like tracking function will provide a better view of the consumer journey from exposure to purchase.

Regardless we’re excited to see the development of e-commerce in future years.

She received global recognition in 2020, when she featured on Season 2 of the BBC reality TV show Glow Up. She’s known for her down-to-earth personality and bright creative makeup looks.

Jagster?(centre):?UK minecraft creator Jago is one of the brightest up and coming stars on the UK circuit. He’s predominantly known for his unique challenge ideas which are fast paced and extremely engaging. In 2022 he plans on expanding his creative work into other areas, so he’s for sure one to keep an eye on!

BennyProductions?(right):?A?multi-talented digital artist & editor who looks to stand out from the crowd by entertaining, not teaching. His videos have amazed countless brands and have attracted millions of views per video. No one else works on the channel except Benny himself, who at 20 years old takes huge pride in his work.

Objectives

  • Secure 10,000 sign ups
  • Drive exposure, awareness and active users to the platform

Strategy

  • Used a number of social media platforms and influencers to promote a giveaway from ABI/Cooldown
  • Utilised gaming influencers across respective niches to attract as many new users as possible
  • Implemented a £10,000 worth of products giveaway

Results

  • Over 29,000 sign ups
  • Over 50,000 clicks
  • Generating high awareness and traffic to the site
