Saudi Arabia's Al-Jawf Region Sees Rare Snowfall and Heavy Rain, Sparking Hopes for a Lush Spring
Have you heard about the unusual weather in Saudi Arabia's Al-Jawf region? It’s made quite a stir—hail, heavy rain, and even snowfall have covered the desert landscape, which is totally unheard of there! For the first time in recorded history, areas like Sakaka city and Dumat Al-Jandal are blanketed in white. It’s so surreal to see deserts looking like winter landscapes!
The Saudi Press Agency mentioned that the heavy rainfall and hailstorms are expected to benefit the region’s wild flora, so they’re hoping for a lush spring with plants like lavender and chrysanthemum flourishing thanks to the extra moisture. The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has even issued further warnings for thunderstorms, hail, and potential flooding. It’s definitely an unusual season for them.
And just this past February, Al-Lawz Mountain, near Tabuk, saw snow too, although warmer-than-usual weather delayed it for a couple of months. People are really marveling at these rare winter scenes in a place known for its heat and dry climate. It’s all a bit mind-blowing and has everyone buzzing about the effect climate shifts might be having.
