9 out 10 times an American/European engineer working on a satellite mission will fail to give you an answer to this question. 

Satsearch, the global marketplace for space, is reducing the barriers to access to information on suppliers, products and services in the space industry. We believe there are more than 100,000 suppliers spread across the world who provide products and services to help teams develop and execute space missions.

Beyond creating reusable rockets, standardised nanosatellite and mass produced microsatellite buses, the cost of access to space will only reduce substantially as the supply chain becomes increasingly globalised.

Our mission has been to open up the supply chain information of the space industry to help engineers seamlessly gain access to all the relevant data they need, in order to conduct technical or financial trade studies during the procurement process.

Through our service to engineers we’re also helping every single supplier, who may be relevant for the mission or service, to be properly considered (no matter where they are or how small they might be!)

We’ve found that engineers spend 2-3 weeks on an average chasing after suppliers to receive technical and supply chain related information (such as lead times, prices, delivery info etc.) for their missions.

Many suppliers are still often very wary of providing OPEN access to data sheets, CAD models, ICDs, prices, and similar information in the space industry.

Satsearch is working with more than 3,000 space sector suppliers to change this dynamic, and help engineers get all the information they need to make better procurement decisions for their space missions.

 With traditional space procurement being mostly driven by formal tenders, suppliers don’t seem to have a strong digital strategy to access the significant, and growing, demand in the NewSpace sector.

We have helped hundreds of suppliers to bid on commercial opportunities and are creating a unique channel to enable companies to access procurement requests in the NewSpace market.

Satsearch now has monthly users from 100+ countries accessing the marketplace to find components, services, or suppliers. We recently crossed a significant milestone by creating more than €100m in Total Opportunity Value (TOV) for suppliers in the last 12 months.

PS - Having worked with thousands of vendors at this point, I have had a chance to ask many of them if they are able to put a number to their Cost Per Acquisition (CPA). It looks like no one really bothers to even track this in our industry and would love to know if you have thoughts on this!
