SAS Solider Turned Hostile Environment Security Specialist

SAS Solider Turned Hostile Environment Security Specialist

Careers can be very exciting, but imagine a life where your work involves living in hostile environments, taking calculated risks and protecting the lives of others. It was fascinating to get insights into how Philip Taulelei?spends his career moments to realise the sacrifices of those few who put their lives on the line for others.

Philip was a former Australian Special Air Service (SAS) special operations solider and now lives as an international security expert, specialising in hostile security operations and terrorism. He went from paratrooper specialist into the security industry working in difficult operational environments. He has worked in security operations in Australia, Singapore, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Vietnam and Africa - well at least these are the ones I know about!

His career included serving in both the New Zealand and Australian military. On leaving the Australian Army in 1997, he has worked in Director, Manager and Senior Advisory roles in the security industry, primarily in the mining and oil gas sector.

His wide security expertise has focused on executive protection; security management; defence and technology-based detection systems; aircraft, marine and land security operations;?canine patrols;?and risk and emergency management services, working for organisations like INPEX and ExxonMobil.?

Philip was interviewed about his military and security experiences in a fascinating and thought-provoking reflection of life living in hostile environments:

1. In part A - Philip reflects on his military experience, including service in the New Zealand and Australian army at?https://lnkd.in/gB4F5Utm; and

2. In part B - Philip reflects on his commercial security experience from a wealth of assignments in Australia, Singapore, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Vietnam and Africa at?https://lnkd.in/gxQFihyr.

I hope you enjoy looking into the life of an elite solider and security specialist, and consider the often thankless job of keeping others safe.

A great insight into those defence heros that protect us.

Thank you Philip for sharing.

One of the great parts of being in any military force is the friendship you make but especially the loyalty and trust. Never found the same in any private sector organisation.
