Sarah's WiDA 25days of Data Challenge Experience, ??????.

Hello, Data Nerds.

My name is Sarah Onyinyechi Unachukwu, a penultimate-year student of the Dept. of Economics, University of Lagos.

I am a budding data analyst. I am also a Women in Data Africa Community member and participated in the recently concluded 25days of Data with WIDA challenge.

I hope you enjoy reading about my journey so far and you are encouraged.

Why did I join the challenge?

One of my goals for the first half of this year was to complete the data analytics course I was taking and start building a strong personal brand on Twitter and LinkedIn.

I wasn't sure where to begin because I had taken a long break from LinkedIn and other school obligations were delaying my learning.

When this challenge presented itself, I wasn't sure if I could manage it with everything else I had on my plate, but I took a risk and signed up for it, and I can say with certainty that it was the right choice.

What has been my highlight so far?

My favourite part of this challenge is seeing myself develop, learn, and show up daily to share what I've learned while holding myself accountable. In addition, I completed WIDA’s book of the month- Atomic Habits which has been on my personal TBR list since the start of the year.

Being with other women who share my desire for professional advancement and goal realization also encourages me to keep putting in the time and effort to achieve my objectives.

You might want to know if this challenge is building my skills:

Yes, this challenge helped me build both my technical and soft skills!

During the challenge, I completed a data cleaning course I was taking on Coursera. I stayed disciplined, committed, and consistent with the challenge.

My ability to tell stories and communicate nonverbally was also greatly enhanced, and I've been able to inspire others and establish more connections with people in the data field.

Advise for anyone interested in joining the next challenge:

For anyone interested in joining the next challenge, I would say: Take the bold step to join the challenge even if you’re uncertain about the outcome. Take the bold step to put yourself out there and show up every day. You never know what lies in store for you and who’s watching the baby steps and effort you’re putting in to develop yourself.
Trust that WIDA will be there to guide every step you take.

I hope you enjoy reading my experience and I look forward to seeing you participate in the next challenge.

Yours in Data, Sarah??????.
