Virtual onboarding is no longer an issue to companies or individuals who are changing jobs, most companies already found their way into a smooth virtual onboarding.
For me as a person who was changing jobs during the pandemic, my only worry was not meeting my coworkers as the first day of work is always an exciting day for new beginnings.
6 months down the road, I feel my office is a global office. I've been having conversations with people from different offices, teams and regions with a simple video call.
Before the pandemic everyone was so focused on expanding their network within their physical offices while in fact one of the blessings I see currently is the ability to work and build relationships with people who aren't from my team or office.
A simple invite adding "??" and I'm having a virtual coffee talk with a colleague or someone who works in a wider team where we can discuss interests, working at Google, network or learn something new.
I've learned many best practices that are actually very valuable throughout my onboarding even if they aren't really focused on my main role and responsibilities.
It is a time where I'm thankful for having a powerful technology where I can easily connect with people no matter where they are based. Transforming the home office into a global “All around the world” office with colleagues from Munich to Dubai to USA or anywhere in the world.
Now that I can go to the office, I still find a way to connect with colleagues from around the world with a single click visiting the home offices around the world. Have you already booked your next virtual coffee? ??
