Sappy Memories of the Dramatic SDR

Sappy Memories of the Dramatic SDR

As I wind down my last full day at Inside Sales Team I would like to reflect on what this past year and couple of months have meant to me.

I moved to Buffalo September of 2016 because I knew it was where I was supposed to be. I moved here with a job I had no experience in and no place to live. I was just some kid who went to college upstate and fought her way back to the great white north. I worked three part time jobs, sometimes all three in a day with no breaks. Pulling 70 hours a week is not something I would like to do ever again, but I was determined to better myself and my life.

I remember so vividly sleeping in my best friend's extra room on her floor, allergic to her cat just outside my door. Her boyfriend knew I was about to change my whole life and move somewhere with no job and no money and no place to live. He was kind enough to refer me to IST. I would go into training at IST exhausted and sick everyday, but I pushed through.

I had no idea what I was doing in sales or even if it was something for me; but because of the people at IST and the general Buffalo "city of good neighbors" mindset everyone has, I was able to not only learn what it was to be an SDR, but I was able to show my true grit. I pushed and pushed until I moved into a Team Lead position and eventually into my Sales Enablement role where I got the chance to challenge myself in the latest technologies.

I found a family in some of my co-workers whether they were on my team or not. We went to lunches, we laughed, we drove me to Best Buy during lunch to get Nintendo Switches...

When someone talks about IST the first thing they say is how the people are unlike any you will ever meet. They are the best of the best all around and truly the part of the job I will miss the most.

So special shout out to all my friends I have made through this journey! And a very special thank you to the Outreach.io team (Especially Joey V. my all time favorite AE) for helping me grow to be the best SDR I could be. A very special thank you to Kiyoshi (My Outreach King to my Outreach Queen, and my personal Outreach Hero), my immediate superior for teaching me everything I know. Last but not least to Marijke for believing in me and giving me the freedom to learn and grow with the company. I loved the Sales Enablement role I fell into, and hope to continue to grow and educate myself on the innovative platforms that will be available to me in the near future.

I am forever grateful.

Happy Holidays and New Year to everyone who got through this long sappy post. As my favorite hobbit would say

"I think I'm quite ready for another adventure!"
