The ’Sapa’ and ‘Japa’ syndrome
In Nigeria, there are two prevalent conditions. You are completely enslaved by abject poverty, and you focus all of your thoughts on survival—the ‘Sapa’ level.
The other is that you are surviving, managing, and attempting to advance, but you believe you can be better and that you were created for greater things.
As a result, you seek an environment in which you can be your best self. This is the ‘Japa’ way of thinking.
Between these two phases, there is a period of political kleptocracy and nonchalance.
The can-do-anything-to-survive?population will do anything: kill, maim, rob, engage in ritual sacrifices, commit Internet fraud, and engage in other 419 activities.
The ready-to-Japa are also looking to save up enough money to get permanent residency, and because they are working white-collar jobs, any underhanded trick will be used to make the cache grow quickly in order to check out.
But Nigeria will be here. Sapa or Japa can not kill it. Nigeria will still be standing?after the two seasons have ended or diminished.
