Player Development

As all teams are prepared from an organizational perspective for the upcoming season (just have a look in the previous Newsletter 05/2024 to learn about season change) it’s now the time to start the individual-career planning for your athletes and to define areas of improvements. #SAPSportsOne includes functions for career-planning. Before you define those player development goals in SAP Sports One you need to get an overview of the current development-status of the player. SAP provides a huge set of reporting templates for #SAPAnalyticsCloud which you can adjust to your needs or you just start working by adopting SAP role model for player-development.

This report visualizes a 360° view of all relevant Player KPI’s. It leverages information from past trainings / match participations, performance tests results, medical and of course skill assessments. The color-coding helps quickly to identify improvement areas. After analyzing the current player skill status, it’s time to define a recommended improvement plan. SAP Sports One helps you with the suggestion of drills and individual training-plans that fit to those defined improvement areas based on your club philosophy. You find more information on how to create development plans on #Learning.sap.com. During the season you are able to rate the individual performance for each training-session & match or take individual notes within the mobile app SAP Team One including answers from Well-Being Questionnaires of your team.

Mobile first

Coaches love to spend time on the pitch vs. working with a laptop in an office environment. That’s the reason why we aim to bring most of the information with relevance to coaches continuously to the smartphone and the SAP Team One app. Just have a look how easy it is to view and work on the mobile phone in the context of a training-session. Even the drill planning is possible.

Watch the SAP Team One Video and learn how to find information on drills, tracking-data, questionnaire results. Also players will soon have an option to see the content of an individual training plan. The creator of a training-session will have the option to make drills visible in SAP Team One for players by activating a button in the training-planer. Stay curious for this upcoming feature and additional improvements in the training-planer including enhancements in the excercise sketching-tool.

Performance Diagnostic

At the start of the season, performance analysis is an inavoidable task to measure the strengths and conditions of your teams. SAP Sports One offers interfaces for internal or external performance tests. As a central datahub all the performance test data are collected in the platform and are available for sophisticated reportings. A player dashboard visualizes the performance-test results including comparisms to the last tests, the overall internal club records or target values to get achieved.

What's Next?

User groups play a pivotal role in fostering connections among our SAP Sports One users with the direct exchange to customers, partners and SAP Development and Product Marketing. The SAP Sports Advisory Council is a platform to exchange knowledge, solve problems and learn from one another. I am very proud that Rot-Weiss Essen e.V. has decided to host in September our next Advisory Council (Event will be in German Language). There are a few seats still available.
