This is first blog of this Series on Google's SAP Observability Service
Google have introduced their newest Pre GA offering "SAP Observability". This service is currently in Preview which means service are available as-is and with limited support from GCP.
Monitoring and protecting your mission critical SAP workloads is key lever for your enterprise application. Then you might ask your self what solutions i have to fulfill this?
SAP Solution Manager
SAP Cloud ALM
Newest addition to this group is Google Workload Manager Observability Service.
The observability service combines the infrastructure metrics and your SAP application metrics into a unified view to help correlate events and understand the health status of your SAP system across all layers of the environment. This service helps in root cause analysis, threat or issue detection and troubleshooting.
Use cases
Systems Mapping
Workload Manager then performs a reconciliation process using the provided data to create a logical mapping of each SAP system which is referred to by the underlying SAP system ID.
Pricing:
Google workload Manager comes at no extra costs. However agents that send data to Cloud Monitoring and Cloud Logging and you incur costs associated with these services.
What does this mean for SAP Administrators:
We can consider as parallel solution to Solution Manager, Cloud ALM which can allow SAP Basis administrator to use Native GCP service to monitor other Infrastructure services like Cloud storage , Load Balancers , Firewalls etc.
Feedbacks:
I would be keen to hear in "Comments" section about your experiences with this service.
In the next edition of this blog we will try to cover Supported SAP systems.
