SAP Leonardo - Differences in AI and ML
Artificial Intelligence is a key to the baseline Leonardo platform so it is important to understand what AI is and how it if different from Machine Leaning as lot of time it is confused with ML. The term artificial intelligence and machine learning are normally used together . They all are nearly associated with each other but are different.
Artificial Intelligence:
AI is the intelligence showcased by machines as the natural intelligence is showcased by living beings (Humans or animals). There are several examples of AI in our day to day life:
- Google maps showing the traffic and the fastest route
- Commercial plane in Autopilot mode
- SPAM filters by emails
- Self-driving cars
- Facebook highlighting photos and asking to tag friends
Artificial intelligence is the branch of computer science which deals in modeling of the intelligent behaviors in the computer system or machines. Artificial intelligence can be accomplished by understanding how the human brain thinks, how human acquires the knowledge, how they adapt and work when they are trying to solve a particular problem and on the basis of the result of this study an intelligent software system can be developed. The applications of artificial intelligence allow the machines to carry out various human tasks with specific improved skills.
Applications of Artificial Intelligence:
1. Natural Language Processing
2. Gaming
3. Speech recognition
4. Also the application of AI can be seen in the field of vision systems and intelligent robot.
Advantages of Artificial Intelligence:
1. Reduction in human involvement in task accomplishment.
2. Task can be completed quickly and error free.
3. In healthcare sector, the doctors can complete the medical processes efficiently & quickly, and also the researchers can get the feedback easily for future research
4. Can work 24*7 without break and team breaks
Machine Learning:
Machine learning can be termed as the subset of artificial intelligence (AI). The key idea behind machine learning is about creating algorithms, which produces some output values based on some input values using the statistical analysis. It is focussed to search, the identifiable pattern in a mass of data and takes the necessary actions as per requirement.
It is a kind of data analytics technique which asks computers to do the task based on their past experience. Machine learning is an extension of artificial intelligence which is based on the fact that the systems can acquire knowledge from the data, recognize patterns and make decisions without human involvement. The main objective of the machine learning is to recognize the data structure and apt that particular data into models which can be easily understood and used by the people. In ML The computer can create models using the sample data so that the decision-making processes can be automated easily which are based on the data inputs. There are two types of machine learning namely -supervised learning & unsupervised learning.
Application of Machine Learning:
1. Marketing to analyse the sales trends and product promotion.
2. Fraud detection in banking sector.
3. Education & learning.
4. Automatic speech & image recognition
5. Search engines to enhance user search and marketing needs.
Benefits of Machine learning are:
1. Reduction in cycle time and efficient utilization of resources
2. Efficient in managing multi-dimensional data in fastly changing environment.
3. The usability of algorithms for several applications can be increased with the help of the source program.
