Students need to explore the map and complete different activities to find Santa: grammar & vocabulary exercises, listening & use of English tasks or 1 min. speaking challenges, riddles, online games, cryptograms etc. and finally... an ESCAPE GAME (about 10 min)!

Here’s how it goes, step by step:

  • Watch the VIDEO approx. 2min.
  • “Last place ?? was seen... it has to be the North Pole, right? He was getting ready for Christmas Eve! Right? I've found this old MAP of the North Pole on the web… Let’s check...”
  • Open the SLIDESHOW presentation (best works with LibreOffice)
  • Ask your students to explore the map as they wish or follow the numbers in order.
  • Click on the numbers and complete the tasks, you can control the time and skip some numbers if needed. List of activities on the following page.
  • In the last 20 min of the class pretend you receive a call. It's detective Rudolph telling you that he has just got a hint “Look for 20…” but the line gets cut off. Ask your students “20 what?! Is there any 20 on the map?!”
  • Click on the North Pole sign, no.20 will show up on the igloo – top right corner.
  • Click the number and you will be redirected to the riddle: Can you prove that 20=22? The answer is 20 = 20 TOO (two). After about a minute no 22 will show up on the largest glacier (left side, under the Wild Land of the Elves).
  • Click no. 22 and you will be redirected to a message HELP ME!
  • Go back to the map and look for Santa! BE QUICK! After about 30 seconds the picture of Santa tied to the rocket will show up next to the igloo no.24.
  • Click on the picture with Santa and you will be redirected to the ESCAPE GAME. Make sure you have watched the WALKTHROUGH or have the video at hand on your mobile phone. You can give remote control access to your students on Zoom so they can explore all the rooms freely.
  • When they finish the escape game and find SANTA you can turn back to the presentation and you will see Santa next to his house, waving his hand at us!
  • Don’t forget to send your students the reward - GIFT through the chatbox - a Christmas card, some online resources, some Apps to practice their English skills etc.

HAVE FUN!
