Sandwich feedback is a very useful tool to give feedback without demotivating your subordinate, team members, customer, coworkers and others.
In this method,
Step 1
We start feedback with praising all good works done by the individual and tell him how important and useful he is for the team and organisation.
Talk about all high points and how those helped organisation.
Step 2
Here we talk about all the things which have gone wrong, and the impact of those to the organisation in a constructive manner.
Give inputs on how he can improve on those.
Tell him if there is any gap in expectation and achievements and what are the steps need to be taken to minimise the gap with the target time.
Step 3
In this step, feedback needs to be summed up by given suggestions and constructive idea about the shortfall.
He needs to be praised for all his achievement and good works, and how he can utilise the skill to achieve more.
Summary
Sandwich feedback needs to start and end with praise and in between person needs to be given constructive criticism with the suggestion to improve on.
