The Sandra Hazel Society

It was Sandra Hazel, an active member of her local and church community, that the Oblates turned to for counsel on setting up the first schoolies outreach in 1987. Sandra played an intrinsic part in getting Rosies off the ground here in Queensland. It was under her guidance as well as that of Fr Paul Costello OMI and Fr Peter Daly OMI that Rosies continued to grow after the initial outreach week.

Sandra went on to coordinate and train Rosies volunteers and every year, she and Fr Peter Daly OMI acted as the spiritual advisors of the group and would spend two weeks leading the outreach team at Dhalanbah, the Youth Development Centre where our full time volunteers lived as a part of the youth mission.

When Rosies expanded into Brisbane, Sandra opened her home and team meetings were held at the Hazel house. Sandra Hazel brought the Rosies mission and charism to life with a strong faith and quiet commitment and gave tirelessly throughout her involvement with us.

As a tribute to Sandra and to ensure that her legacy of love and friendship lives on, we have named our Gift in Wills program in memory of her.

This program and its members will help provide long term financial security for Rosies, our volunteers, and the Queenslanders we support every day.

Members of the program will receive a packet of seedlings to grow and nuture just as the gift in their Will will help to grow and nuture of our patrons.?
