Sandpaper To Your Soul?

There I was in the meadow, on the porch of our log cabin, the mid-afternoon sun fresh on my face.? The cabin, newly constructed amid the storms of my unraveling marriage, offered a bit of respite, nestled away on 43 rolling acres of farmland & woods.??

Amid buzzing insects, I put pen to paper, trying to articulate what was even happening.? It was all so confusing & foggy.? A clusterfuckery. I was depleted.

As I sought the fresh air of clarity among the craziness, a term arose within, nourishing my spirit:? Sandpaper to the Soul.

I felt shift out of the fog, as awareness of these four words nourished something deep within.? These words had directionality, movement from the outward inward.

It was a reference point of clarity, illuminating & dispelling some of the darkness within.? All of this pain, suffering, confusion … was somehow doing something within me.?

Something deeply profound.

Clarity Continues

Since this moment in 2019, sandpaper to my soul has continued to illuminate my path into intimacy within.? You see, I understood somehow all those rough edges of built up facades needed sanded away, to reveal the goodness of truth & love within.?

Rough edges that looked like:

• Irritation at the man I was divorcing, with his lies, endless bullying, and antics that everyone else seemed to be believing.
• Irritation at the timeline of divorce, seemingly taking for-evvvvv-aaaaa.
• Scared shitless for my children and their unknown.
• Scared shitless as a now single mother, starting a new business from scratch … with zero network.
• The emotional roller-coaster of entrepreneurship, learning curves, dead ends, money “invested”, wins & losses both.
• Concern for how I was dancing on the ballroom competition dance & practice floor, diminishing the joy of my experience.
• Money & opportunities that came … and went … to then seemingly come again.
• The moments when I had all the “right” boxes checked … only to realize the number of boxes didn’t matter - they all were filled with empty promises of "should's" and "the right way to do things", etc.
• Legalities, stresses, friendships, romantic relationships, ETC, ETC, ETC.

Sandpaper To The Soul … On Repeat

Each sandpaper to the soul moment brought a new clarity, a new awareness.? With each new awareness, a new willingness arose, fueled by a tenacity to embrace and transform the suffering, somehow rooted in love. I could feel the clarity, nourishment, and purity of my authentic desire for love.

You see, I was unwilling to not become willing:

• I was unwilling to not feel whole.
• I was unwilling to not embrace every ounce of suffering … for I knew somehow, someway I would find a way to alchemize it through the lens of love.?
• I was unwilling to not truly learn what love meant and how it looked in each and every single daily sandpaper to the soul arising. I was determined and committed to learning the ways of love.
• I somehow knew all of these sandpaper to the soul moments were epically FOR me ... I just didn't have the how part figured out yet, not then.
• I was unwilling to stop at anything less than total and complete freedom, inside & out.

So, What About You?

It takes courage to begin naming and seeing what is sandpaper to your soul.? I invite you to do so. If you're human, its quite likely many moments arrive each and every day.

Stop turning a blind eye on the suffering in your life, somehow thinking that ignoring it is solving it.??

That monster is growing in the dark, festering until the prime opportunity to disrupt your life.? It's time to bring it into the light.

Sandpaper to the soul is for you, for love, for truth, for every ounce of freedom and goodness in your life.

With willing courage, you can begin to light the light in.? Of this, I’m certain.
