SANDBAGGING: Oui’s Term for March
What is it?
A fantastic technique at keeping your under-eye concealer crease-free.
Sandbagging also ensures that your eye makeup and lipstick won’t melt outside the lines.
Sandbagging is all about preventing smears as opposed to adding light to the skin
Why the name?
It’s an ode to sandbags used to prevent flooding. Sandbags are used to keep water from flooding areas, and the technique will keep your eye makeup from running.
If you’re curious about how it’s done
After applying your eye-concealer, use a damp makeup sponge to pat a thick coat of translucent powder on top, getting as close to your waterline as possible. Let the product sit as you add your eyeliner or eyeshadows – the idea being that it absorbs oils from the skin and ensures that those areas will stay ultra-smooth and matte throughout the day. After a few minutes, dust away the excess with a fluffy brush, and you are good to go!
A special tip you need to know
Keep your eye area very still while the powder is setting. Not easy, but it needs to be done because any facial expression will cause the skin to crinkle, which could create cracks and lines in your concealer.
And I will see you next month with another beauty-full term!
