Entering the library, one is greeted by a beautifully decorated and meticulously maintained space that seamlessly opens to a lush green garden. The atmosphere is serene and conducive to both quiet study and lively intellectual discussion. Librarian Latha Aravind, with a welcoming smile, embodies the enthusiasm and dedication that have become the hallmarks of this esteemed institution.
Since its inception in 1989, the library has evolved remarkably under the guidance of pioneers like Prof. K A Isaac. What started as a modest collection has grown into an impressive array of resources. Today, the library boasts 1,34,313 books, 8076 e-books, and 3852 theses, offering a vast ocean of knowledge to its users. The commitment to integrating modern technology is evident in its fully automated system managed by the open-source software Koha, setting a national benchmark for library management.
Membership in prestigious networks such as INFLIBNET and DELNET has significantly expanded the library’s reach. Through these collaborations, users can access resources from major libraries across the nation, enhancing the quality and relevance of the information services provided. Moreover, the library's participation in the e-ShodhSindhu consortium and the Kerala State Higher Education Council consortium ensures access to an extensive range of e-journals and databases, including JSTOR, Web of Science, and Scopus, to name a few.

The accolades garnered by the library are a testament to its excellence. The Mahatma Gandhi University Library won the State IT award in 2009 for its pioneering Online Theses Digital Library, which was the first in India, providing open access to doctoral theses worldwide. Furthermore, the 2019 Koha Library Award for the best Koha implementation at the national level highlights its leadership in library technology.
Beyond its vast collections and technological advancements, the library fosters a culture of continuous learning and engagement. Regular Media Literacy seminars, held in collaboration with industry experts, are a part of its dynamic program, ensuring that students and faculty are well-versed in navigating the digital information landscape.
The library’s extensive collection includes 9356 bound volumes of journals and subscriptions to 96 journals, including 29 international ones. Additionally, access to 15 online databases and four journal archives collections ensures that the library remains a cutting-edge resource centre for research and learning.
