Samsung Makes iPhone users Want to Switch.
With the launch of the new Galaxy S8, Samsung has really given iPhone users something to think about and many have reportedly already made the switch. This is a bigger deal than most people would think because making the switch from an iPhone to pretty much any other brand involves switching ecosystems and jumping from iOS to Android. It means learning how a completely new operating system works, figuring out and learning new workflows and most important of all, buying all your apps again and paying for them once more. In the light of all of this hassle, the news that iPhone users are actually switching to Android so that they can use a Galaxy S8 just proves how great the phone is and how far it has left the previous generation Apple flagship phone behind. Even in countries like India, where flagship phones cost much more than anywhere else in the world, due to high import duties, the Galaxy S8 is outselling the iPhone 7 quite handily.
The fact that the Galaxy S8 is the first phone to topple the iPhone 7 from its throne as the top selling smartphone is quite impressive because the iPhone has held its own for close to a year now. Not only is the Galaxy S8 selling incredibly well, alongside accessories like Galaxy S8 cases but even its larger sibling, the S8 Plus is selling almost as well. Both Galaxy S8 covers as well as Galaxy S8 Plus cases are right now some of the hottest selling smartphone cases and back covers at online designer case sites around the world. Users are also creating custom cases and covers for their Galaxy S8 and Plus sized phones, in the hundreds.
Why is the S8 a game changer?
Those who think that the S8 is getting too much hype because of its single standout feature are not really seeing the bigger picture (pun intended). The screen to body ratio of smartphones have slowly being getting better and better over the last few years as phone makers try to reach the target of having a phone that is all screen. Apple however has stuck with the same dated design for three years in a row now.
The Galaxy S8 and the S8 Plus have now moved the game so far ahead that Apple will have no alternative but to respond by making sure that the next version of the iPhone you buy, is competitive in terms of screen real estate at least. The Galaxy S8 Plus covers even the small tablet market with its huge screen, so Apple is also going to have to do something about the iPad Mini to make it more competitive as well.
