Sample-it experiences rise in concept packaging development

By Aaron Dunning, Sample-it Head of Client Services

As the world is gradually returning to normal and Covid-19 restrictions have eased both in the UK and around the world, at Sample-it, we are experiencing a steady rise in client requests.

This level of new enquiries indicates consumer confidence is growing and clients are keen to explore new avenues. We’ve identified three key trends within our client base. Some are focusing on new product development and coming to us for concept packaging mock-ups, whilst many are seeking to refresh their existing product packaging and approach us to produce samples in a range of formats and substrates.

The third trend we’re seeing is an uplift in leads from start-ups, which is a real positive and perhaps reflects the tenaciousness of the entrepreneurial spirit when faced with adversity - like a global health crisis!

It’s very encouraging to see our clients focused on product development again. Confidence seems to be returning amongst marketeers with office environments open again. Talking to our customers and friends in the industry, the consensus is a feeling of renewed energy and activity.

Working with start-ups is a sector that Sample-it is proud to be part of and one we’ve supported for many years. In recent months we’ve been appointed to work with a range of new businesses, from food and beverage brands to luxury goods, including producing packaging samples for a bespoke skin care company and a new fragrance line.

It’s fair to say, that out of necessity for the last two years, we’ve increasingly relied on digital renders and 3D graphics to present packaging design concepts to clients. Another positive about the world reopening is the fact we can get back to meeting face-to-face, networking and attending trade fairs and expos.

For example, we’ve experienced an influx of orders from clients who are heading off to the National Convenience Show in April. It's great to have the show back again and this is where physical packaging samples come into their own. Nothing makes a more compelling proposition than a real-life product sample in a buyer’s hands - we’ve all watched Dragons Den!

We see combining the two formats as a win-win for clients - not a trade-off. Working with 3D samples early in a project gives clients with the flexibility and opportunity to review concepts before investing in the production of a physical mock-up. Meanwhile the 3D assets can be used in brand storytelling and for various promotional activities, presentations and product launches.

At Sample-it, we have the ability and passion to help you to develop a brand identity, either as a refresh or an entirely new design – all the way through to creating your physical packaging prototypes.

Bring your concepts to life!

It gets better…We can also manufacture samples from as low as one unit increasing up into the hundreds. So, whether it’s supporting our clients as they return to exhibiting at trade shows after such a long wait, or helping them to get their product packaging and prototypes in perfect shape for that important client pitch, there’s nothing more rewarding for us.

If you’re looking for some advice or have a project in mind, just drop me a line, I look forward to hearing from you.
