A Sample from my new Ebook titled "Legal Things You Really DO Need To Know"
Ignorance is definitely NOT bliss.
When I hear people tell me they don't actually need an attorney, I ask them if they own or lease a car, own or rent a house, have a cell phone or cable account or any credit cards, or have ever used a website that asked that they check that little box that said I Agree at the bottom of the webpage before allowing them to see what they opened the page for in the first place.
Unless you live completely off the grid of modern life, you have probably done all of these things and more without thinking. And you know, as long as there are no disagreements with whoever prepared that agreement, no problemo. Ah but is ignorance truly bliss? NOPE.
In the event you decide you want to terminate that agreement for any reason whatsoever, you will then discover the unthinkable, “I've been screwed.”
The way this works is that whoever pays the attorney to write the agreement with all that fine print actually gets to set ALL the terms of that agreement, and ALL those terms favor the company that had the agreement written. Oh, and by the way, you ARE now really screwed because it would cost way more than it's worth to litigate a case like this.
So, you either pay the early termination fee, which is a pure penalty, or you get a black mark on your credit and a full twelve months of harassing phone calls from bill collectors. Your choice.
