SAM Seamless Network
Visibility, security and threat intelligence services for unmanaged networks and IoTs
We would like to open this edition by welcoming the new year and wishing all our followers and subscribers a happy, prosperous, and peaceful 2025.??
In this special edition, we will share two thought leadership pieces from our co-founder and CEO, Sivan Rauscher, and our VP Data and Innovation, Nadav Liebermann. As they explore the?transformation of the home gateway into a digital hub within the connected home and the opportunity it presents for ISPs to achieve sustainable growth and gain a competitive edge. In an era?where broadband connectivity is commoditized, maintaining the loyalty of your customers and generating new revenue streams can seem like a mission impossible. ?
As we keep a close eye on recent cyberattacks and trends, we will also share our latest update on a commonly used router,?along with our recommendations for mitigating some of the risks it presents.?
Lastly, we would be happy to meet you at the upcoming industry event in Barcelona! See details below.?
A Letter From SAM CEO and Co-Founder, Sivan Rauscher
As 2024 winds down and plans for 2025 are finalized I have been reflecting on the evolution underway in consumer broadband and the transformative changes that will define the new connected home. The next few years will see the broadband gateway in a home evolve into an application platform, becoming the digital hub within the connected home. This digital hub will provide an App store experience for consumers to customize their digital experience with applications and services unique to the needs of their family members, the content they consume and the growing number of devices they connect within their home.?
Thought Leadership: The Future of Home Gateways
As our lives become increasingly digitized, and telcos evolve from mere connectivity providers to comprehensive home digitization enablers, the home router is transforming from a simple gateway to the central hub of the digital home. The potential computing power of the ISP router has surged, with CPU performance increasing, on average, by over 350% and memory capacity by an astounding 1,500% in the past decade. This trend will continue to accelerate as WiFi chipset manufacturers integrate Neural Processing Units (NPUs) into router CPUs, enabling the local execution of AI applications on ISP Customer Premises Equipment (CPE).?

News: U.S. Department of Justice Considering Banning TP-Link Products
On December 18, 2024, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) announced its consideration of banning TP-Link products. The concerns center around potential misuse for espionage and cyberattacks, linked to vulnerabilities exploited by attackers, allegedly originating from China.?
TP-Link is one of the most common 3rd party router used in SOHO and SMBs with an estimated 7%-10% of SMB networks using a TP-Link networking product.?
To mitigate the risk, we suggest taking one of the following actions:?
Enabling SAM’s cyber security product will remove those threats and provide your customers with the most cost-effective & seamless security.?
Replacement of the TP- Link devices with devices from other manufacturers (preferably the ISP WiFi devices).?
Security solutions that include protection for Command Injection, Port Scan & Brute Force attacks.?
