According to a Parks Associates study, 43% of US MDU residents report using smart home devices, which are increasingly being offered by their property managers. These residents also express a preference for monitoring and controlling their devices through a single user interface.?
And this is true for your SFU customers as well, as the typical US home connects to an average of 20 unmanaged IoT devices. ?? ???
The MDU/SFU distinction is crucial for ISPs in determining the right connectivity offering. Another important distinction that could be overlooked lies between residential and small-office-home-office (SOHO) customers and their expectations regarding network protection from their ISP.
Micro-businesses that use residential routers must have a robust network security layer in place to address IoT vulnerabilities! By installing protection on top of their existing gateway, these businesses, which are currently using high-rate consumer packages, can avoid the need for a more expensive and complex firewall solution while still enjoying the desired level of protection and control.
