Visibility, security and threat intelligence services for unmanaged networks and IoTs
Welcome to SAM's newsletter, in which we explore a roundup of customer-focused insights and industry news stories related to visibility, security and threat intelligence solutions for unmanaged networks and IoTs.?
This edition's main takeaway is a focus on recent moves?by?global legislators to increase security and the need for ISPs to start rethinking the way they are providing value to their?customers.
In today’s competitive landscape, it’s no longer just about speeds and feeds. To create meaningful customer offerings, ISPs should also educate their users and provide them with access to the right tools that will help them protect their digital assets, identity and privacy. As the attack surface continues to evolve, decision-makers need dynamic, field-proven solutions that provide the right intelligence and won’t require end-user intervention. We invite you to stay updated with our roundup of recent news and learn more about ISPs’ challenges and winning strategies to bundle security into your offering.

Article: For home IoT users, security help is on the way
Estimations predict that 31 billion IoT devices will be connected to networks by the year 2025. And consequently,?the growing number of IoT-based?cyber-attacks poses a great challenge for regulators, device manufacturers and end-users. It will be close to impossible to expect IoT device manufacturers to understand and implement the different security requirements and regulations in each country. Even if they did, how would government agencies enforce regulations given the huge number of IoT vendors, device types and models?
What does this?mean for the future of securing home & office IoT devices and?how does it affect service providers? NightDragon's Head of Government Services?Katherine Gronberg?explores this in an article published in?RCR Wireless News, as well as how some ISPs are already?stepping up to answer the current?market demand by implementing better protection for?their customers?at the network level. Last month's announcement by the?UK?government introduced one of the world’s toughest telecoms security regimes. The new roles will require providers to have a deep understanding of their security risks, demonstrate the ability to identify when anomalous activity is taking place and control who can access and make changes to the operation of their networks, with regular reporting to internal boards.
This important initiative is aimed to secure the UK’s communications against current and future threats that target ISP's networks and various critical infrastructure communication devices (for example, routers). IoT security?needs to be implemented at the network level for ISPs to fully support their customers, reduce support costs and enhance their offering and brand.?Read more?about the new UK security guidelines for ISPs ???? News: Why telcos must transform into 'techcos' — and how to do it
The following review showcases telcos' role as tech-first companies in customer value creation rather than pure communication enablers. Is it time to rethink the business model and?become “techcos”?
Successful telcos are increasingly shifting the conversation from feeds and speeds to the complete customer experience. They will need to fundamentally rethink how their networks are built and run, including migrating to a?cloud-native?approach.
These changes highlight the importance of having an underlying infrastructure that facilitates the kind of seamless, multi-vendor environment that frees telcos to benefit from best-of-breed technologies, allowing them to stay at the leading edge of new use cases in?B2B?and?B2B2C.
