“What shall it profit a man if he should gain the whole world and lose his soul?” (Mark 8:36). They gain NOTHING!
Today we are going to talk about the Bible. What is the Bible agenda? Is it authentic? Can it be trusted?
Most Christians have accepted Christ to a limited extent. They have embraced his life on earth and death on the cross as accounted in the gospels (Mathew, Mark, Luke and John). And unfortunately, they end there. They only understand his ministry to be of miracles and death and resurrection. They want Jesus to perform such miracles in their lives also today before they die with hope that he will resurrect them. So, Jesus remains a static historical figure to them. And so, they don’t know where Jesus is right now in heaven, what He is busy doing, and how what he is doing in heaven now affects their salvation. They assume Jesus is just in heaven seated in a chair looking down at them. So, through this series we will learn of his work in our personal salvation currently in heaven.
And the question I posed today still stands, what shall it profit you as a person to gain a miracle in your financial situation, to gain a miracle in your relational life situation, what shall it profit you to secure a miracle from the historic Jesus you have embraced and lose your soul at the end simply because you did not understand how the ministry of Jesus currently in heaven works and so you keep living a life that does not help him save you? The primacy of the completeness of salvation Jesus Christ represents and offers is the prism through which the Bible must be studied and embraced.
God intended to convey to humanity essential information concerning their salvation from sin through the Bible, and therefore every part of it, all of the sixty books in it must be taken seriously. The Bible forms the ultimate, solid, authoritative, and enduring basis for human actions and character. The Holy Scriptures are a reliable guide to correct doctrine. They also provide a dependable history detailing how God has interacted with humanity in various circumstances from generation to generation. The question arises: Why is it that the majority of Christians do not seem to seriously focus of the Books of Hebrews (Hebrews 3:1-2; 4:14-16; 5:1-14; 6:19-20; 7:1-28; 8:1-13; 9:1-28; 10:1-39; Hebrews 12:2;) and Revelation (Revelation 1:12-13; 5:6,9,12) that clearly speak of the High Priestly ministry of Christ dealing with the value addition of the Atonement—a ministry Christ embarked on after His ascension to heaven? Because that is where your salvation merits are being value added.
What is Christ doing in heaven right now as we speak? And how does that affect your salvation? It is in the Bible and so you have to know it. I invite you to invite others and pray that God gives you the understanding to comprehend the topic of salvation inn a way that can and will save you!
