Saluting the Energy Sector
Just over one year ago was my last at the University of Oklahoma College of Law Oil & Gas, Natural Resources, and Energy Center. I want to salute the institution for giving me the opportunity to teach at a college that I have always admired. I am grateful to have been part of the team.
The fact that energy use correlates with (1) economic growth (2) better health (3) longer lifespans (4) better diet (5) more humane living conditions (6) higher IQ and (7) a cleaner environment was one many students had not considered. They are educated converts now, and understand how important reliable energy is to the state and nation.
The perception of the energy sector among the younger generation has gone from bad to worse over the last decade. Truth be told, our democratic form of government rides on the back of the energy servants that serve us every day.
Building an Energy Center was a challenge. Among other things we flew drones over the Santa Rita #1 Permian discovery well and made virtual reality videos of the adventure. My class went from 12 to 70 - showing that if done correctly fossil fuels are not a story that can be ignored.
The energy story is incredibly important one to tell. I am glad to have built what we could at OU. But the quest continues, I am back in Texas, where the contacts and skill set are appreciated by multiple educational entities I have been working with.
Thanks to all who have supported the effort over the years.

5 年Actually it is we who should thank you, Professor, even those of us whose geezerdom forestalls any possibility of benefiting from your instruction firsthand. Still, we are better off for you having taught the next generation of people who will work in the industry, as well as from your continued work in the field. I am sorry OU saw fit to let you go. Thank you.
