Saltbox raised $10.6mm. How are we doing? Ask me in 10 years...

I’m excited to share that Saltbox has closed a $10.6mm Series A financing round. 

The truth is I struggle to find the right words in these moments. Candidly, my instinct is to put my head down, say nothing, and 'keep it moving’. My favorite response, when asked how we’re doing, is “ask me again in ten years!” 

Admittedly, there’s more than a hint of facetiousness embedded in that statement, yet it ultimately reflects a deeply held truth -- that the startup journey can be long, grueling, uncertain, and, in every case, is ultimately measured only by the value a company creates for its customers over time. Very simply, our goal is to create massive value for many customers over many decades to come.

My restlessness and unease with celebrating the success of the moment is underpinned by the fact that I know we’ve only just begun on our journey. Saltbox is complex and, by its very nature, will take years to blossom into its full mission.

That notwithstanding, I’m deeply humbled by the members who choose to rely upon our logistics infrastructure to operate their businesses from Saltbox today. There’s something very special about the relationship between a startup and its early customers. Our gratitude and appreciation for them run deeper than they’ll ever know....  

One thing that I can celebrate on this day (and every day, for that matter) are the incredible colleagues and investors who working tirelessly to bring the vision of Saltbox into reality. It is the joy of my career to be able to work alongside them building this company every day, and I look towards the future with joy, excitement, and deep optimism knowing that they'll be there along the way.
