The Salt Shed
REDEFINING AIR DISPERSION IN CHICAGO
BlueStar Properties is renowned for transforming unique or unusual properties into incredible experiences. Their Salt Shed project, located near downtown Chicago, is a prime example of their creativity. They converted an old, iconic salt factory into a stunning concert venue and experience, with the Chicago skyline as the backdrop.
When working out the airflow to keep the place cool – they turned to DuctSox for some interesting reasons:
Condensation was no concern because of air porous fabric – even if they left the doors wide open!
ZOO FANS
ZOO Fans got in on the action too – as before they turned on the HVAC – the stratification caused a 50 degree difference between floor and high bay. Once the 4 fans were installed, temperatures stabilized and all parties were shocked at how well they worked considering they were discretely positioned up in the ceiling and were so efficient to run.

Shout Out
We would like to give a shout-out to Air Products Equipment Company for their hard work in gaining approval from the City of Chicago. This approval was necessary for the project to go forward, as the city does not accept fabric. Their efforts, along with those of the developer, architect, engineer, and contractor, made this once-in-a-lifetime project possible.
We would like to draw attention to the invaluable contribution made by Ventric Mechanical Systems, Inc. Their advocacy for DuctSox for the challenging application – working with BlueStar, city and final coordination ensured a seamless project.
The collective efforts of all involved were instrumental in bringing this historic project to life.
