a Salt and Battery: ....I pulled out my NEW SCIENTIST from January, getting a Blow-Dry Today (although the BRAND NEW BAZAAR on the Counter 'did' look more entertaining), yet, decided to 'catch-up' on the latest Lithium battery Crisis using one of my favorite cooking tools...a shaker of Salt. https://www.newscientist.com/article/mg24933180-600-were-running-out-of-lithium-for-batteries-can-we-use-salt-instead/
@KatharineSanderson writes "Lithium (South America, Boliva, Congo and Chile, ) when mined, requires 1.9 million liters (or 4 million gallons when converted) of water per tonne. ...........Uh Oh. Then, when my roots are being lifted with Mousse, the article continues: lithium batteries require COBALT: Ms. Sanderson reports "2/3rds of mined cobalt comes from one country, the democratic Republics of Congo. and dug up by miners, including children who often work without safety equipment in awful conditions and earn $3 a day or less. Puts (quite a) damper on the NETFLIX REMOTE CONTROL...and motivated minds are digging-deep into solutions. One is Salt.
The Report sweeps into a thankful & glorious litany of advances technologies, including Sodium......+ the full array of material alternatives, and one is SEAWATER - I realize i am Living in Montauk, on the Atlantic Ocean, home to Surfers and now cobalt & lithium "Miners Salvation".. The scientists behind some of these "Battery Break Outs" are women, like Maria Braga at the university of Portugal, who is working with 'the' lithium battery inventor (yes, this is a real name) 'John Goodenough". The company Natron Energy, developed a salt battery based on the pigment PRUSSIAN BLUE. (not Cerium blue of THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA 'fame",) - and has been tested to last 37,000 cycles.
Bleak Now. Better Soon. Salt on the Wound, can heal. Hey @Bazaar, why don't you spread the word and do a little feature on this #Prussian Blue. I'm sure Tom Ford will Lead. @bof
