"SALPG - The Annual Day"

The most awaited yearly event - “SALPG The Annual Day” was celebrated with much fun and frolic with employees and their family joining together to make the day a memorable one as always.

The 15th annual celebrations of SALPG were planned at Swosti Chilika Resort, Odisha, located next to the pristine Chilika Lake. For the first time the event took place out of Andhra Pradesh. One of the exciting parts of the event was to travel together in an exclusive coach of the Indian Railway, where due to sheer excitement the entire group stayed up late playing games as the train headed for Odisha.

The day one began with water volleyball followed by multiple games organized especially for the young children. The kids showed their enthusiasm, joining all the different games with parents cheering them from the side-line. While the children were busy participating, few bachelors were seen enjoying their game in pool table. Of course, for few others, books and mobile internet kept them occupied as they lazed around the swimming pool.

For lunch sumptuous local delicacy was served in buffet style. The organizers ensured a pause after lunch for all to retire to their room for a short afternoon siesta.

Well, the members and their families bounced back gathering in specially decorated banquet room to try their luck in balloon shooting, target archery games and later employees and their families tried their luck at Tambola, which had its own charm of suspense and anticipation. Energized after the tea break, it was time to prove a point on strength – tug of war, which at the end was more hilarious than competitiveness as players fell over each other as the team pulled their way to victory. For those who watched the game, it was wonderful to see the childlike glee on the faces of these gentlemen – as if they relived their boyhood!

As the dusk fell, families hurried back to their rooms to dress up for the Gala Evening - the main event of the Annual Day. Dressed in their best attires and some well colour coordinated, the mood was all set for the evening. The stage, the backdrop, the lights, and the ambience all added up to make the evening a memorable one.

The much-awaited evening event, 15th Annual celebrations of SALPG started at 7 p.m., in a grand way. Program commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries followed by devotional fusion song and dance performance on Lord Ganesha by Aryan group from Odisha. The event rolled on with Long Service Awards, Lucky Dip, felicitation of Newly Married Couple, Birthdays and the 15th annual cake cutting ceremony. Two of employee’s kids danced solo on stage and enthralled the audience with their artistic performances.

As the evening rolled on, the live song and music pulled enthusiastic few to dance to the tune. There was virtual competition on the dance floor with innovative gyration by old and young. Kids not to be left behind joined their elders to show their mettle.

At the end, Operations department delivered vote of thanks and on behalf of the company extended warm regards to everyone present at the 15th Annual Function. A delectable gala dinner was laid alongside the grand lawn.

The following day morning after early breakfast, the group went out for a fascinating boat ride at Chilika Lake which is Asia’s largest and world’s second largest lake. It was exciting to see the migrating birds at the lake along with a visit to Kalijai temple located on an island in the middle of the lake.

By noon the group assembled at the lobby to say adieu to Chilika as buses headed for the local Railway station for employees to catch the train back to Visakhapatnam, the City of Destiny. Employees along with their families returned home- all refreshed and rejuvenated from such a joyful trip.
