Salmon DNA - the new facelift? Biohacking skincare with PDRN therapies

Polynucleotides and salmon DNA are molecular structures reshaping skincare, causing many to reconsider facial fillers and surgeries.

The science behind #PDRN skin therapies like Rejuran is fascinating.

Polydeoxyribonucleotide (PDRN) has the ability to regenerate skin cells and improve the skin barrier and wound healing. This study investigated the possibility of replacing animal-derived PDRN with plant-derived PDRN. To test this, the adventitious roots of Korean ginseng (Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer), which is commonly used to treat various diseases, were suspension-cultivated through tissue culture; subsequently, PDRN was purified using microfluidization, an ultra-high-pressure physical grinding method. The results showed that purified Panax PDRN was effective in healing skin wounds and enhancing the skin barrier. Panax PDRN promoted the proliferation of keratinocytes and fibroblasts by increasing the expression of fibronectin, filaggrin, Ki-67, Bcl-2, inhibin beta A, and Cyclin D1. It also acted as an agonist of the adenosine A2A receptor and induced the phosphorylation of focal adhesion kinase, adenosine triphosphate-dependent tyrosine kinase, and mitogen-activated protein kinase. This activated signal transduction, thereby regenerating skin cells and strengthening the barrier. These results were not only observed in skin cells but also in an artificial skin model (KeraSkinTM).

These polynucleotides—chains of DNA or RNA molecules—unlock the body's own ability to regenerate, repair, recover, and hydrate the skin - on the surface layer and beneath it

The polynucleotide effects

1. Tissue regeneration Polynucleotides stimulate fibroblasts, the cells responsible for collagen and elastin production. Think: firmer, more elastic skin.

2. Cellular repair They enhance cell proliferation and promote angiogenesis (the formation of blood vessels). Translation? Improved oxygen and nutrient delivery to your skin.

3. Anti-inflammatory magic Polynucleotides help calm inflammation, speeding up recovery from stressors like UV damage.

4. Deep hydration The hydrophilic nature of DNA attracts water, leaving your skin plump and glowing.

Salmon DNA

Yes, I know you're wondering... Salmon DNA?

Why salmon? It’s biocompatible (close to human DNA), stable, and loaded with regenerative properties. It’s like giving your skin the tools it needs to rebuild itself from the inside out.

Salmon DNA is particularly effective because:

  1. Biocompatibility: Its nucleotide sequence is highly similar to human DNA, reducing immunogenicity.
  2. Stability: It provides structural integrity to damaged tissues while being easily broken down into usable components by human enzymes.
  3. Purity: Extracted and purified salmon DNA lacks the inflammatory impurities found in other sources.

This isn’t about masking flaws. It’s about biohacking your skin’s natural processes to work better, longer.

Forget synthetic fillers—this is sustainable, science-backed rejuvenation.
