Salesy is Sexy and Here's Why

My coaching client Matt was upset.

He was called salesy twice in one week!?And, anyone who sells knows, there’s nothing worse than being called salesy!?

Matt couldn’t understand why his prospect called him salesy!?He wanted what he believed they wanted.?And, now he felt like a jerk – a salesy jerk.

As Matt’s Coach and also a seller myself, I admit the word "salesy," has connotations of being pushy and insincere. But, I respect and esteem the honorable profession of selling stuff and I have come to believe that authentic salesyness is actually pretty darn sexy.

Stay with me on this.

The kind of salesyness I’m talking about possesses a seductive power that can captivate and create meaningful connections.

Because I genuinely care about Matt and I believe he has the best of intentions for his clients, I challenged Matt to consider the following 4 qualities of sexy salesyness to help him turn his wounded sales mindset around (which he did and now the prospect is a client and that’s why I’m sharing these tips here for you!).?

I think these four seller perspectives are much needed for modern sellers to help their clients and prospects make timely decisions that solve big problems and achieve noble goals.

  1. Sales Authenticity

This is the New Sales Sexy: In today's world, authenticity is highly valued. People crave genuine connections and experiences. Being salesy in the traditional sense repels potential customers, but when salespeople embrace authenticity, they become irresistible. Authenticity means being true to oneself, honest, and transparent. By infusing sincerity into their sales approach, professionals can build trust and foster long-term relationships that are both rewarding and alluring.

2. The Art of Listening:

There is nothing like being truly listened to not just for what is being said but for what is not being said.?What’s sexier than that? Truly understanding and empathizing with customers is a fundamental aspect of successful sales. Effective salespeople possess the ability to listen actively, picking up on subtle cues and understanding the deeper needs and desires of their clients. This skill creates an intimate connection and demonstrates a level of attentiveness that is undeniably sexy. By prioritizing the art of listening, sales professionals can uncover opportunities to provide tailored solutions that leave clients feeling deeply understood and valued.

3. Confidence, Charisma, and Charm

Confidence is undeniably attractive, and it plays a vital role in sales. Salespeople who exude confidence in their product or service can captivate their audience and ignite interest. Additionally, charisma—a magnetic quality that draws others in—enhances the sales experience. Charismatic sales professionals engage and inspire clients, making them feel special and enticing them to explore possibilities. Combined with a dash of charm, a salesperson's authentic confidence and charisma become a seductive force that opens doors to exciting opportunities.

4. Creating Value, Not Just Closing Deals

The most successful sales professionals focus on creating value for their clients rather than solely pursuing transactions. They understand that building lasting relationships requires a genuine desire to help and make a positive impact. By offering tailored solutions that address specific pain points, salespeople demonstrate their commitment to their clients' success. This customer-centric approach is undeniably sexy, as it shows a level of understanding of needs that goes beyond a transaction but is a commitment to making a difference now and in the future.

I challenged Matt and now I’m challenging you to consider that in the realm of being "salesy" we would all do well to adopt an entirely new meaning of the word when considering it in the context of authenticity, empathy, and a customer-centric mindset.

So join together with me and Matt by embracing these qualities that can tap into the seductive power of genuine connections and build meaningful relationships with clients.

Remember, being "salesy" is sexy when it means being confident, charismatic, and focused on creating value rather than merely closing deals. So, let your authentic sales skills shine and witness the allure they hold in captivating and delighting clients.

Start right now by embracing the power of authentic sales and discover the irresistible combination of professionalism, empathy, and genuine connection.

Let's redefine what it means to be "salesy" and make a positive impact on our clients that leaves a lasting impression.?

And the next time someone calls you salesy, thank them for the compliment!
