Happy 2025 from Bill Smillie and SalesShip! This is the first post as we embark together on a journey of 12 principles, one of which I intend to share each week.
The first message is titled: "Service with Love!"
2 Questions to Start:
1. Why do you feel companies do business with you and your company?
2. Does everyone at your company feel confident in/about your product or service? Why or why not?
Today, phone calls are often replaced by automated systems and emails. Mentoring, trust, and relationships are being replaced with CRMs, processes, and Zoom calls.
Wisdom and creativity do not have a line item on a spreadsheet and AI is the new director of customer support and sales.
Are you at risk of losing sight of the connectivity and enthusiasm, which can help grow both individuals and your organization?

Shifting to a "Service with Love" Mindset
Let’s revisit the old 80-20 rule (Pareto Principle): 20% drives 80% of your results.
With a 'love and service' mindset, you can create opportunities to move some of the 80% into the top-performing leadership brackets—both customers and employees.
Tip #1: Have a person always answer the phone. Not just answer it—do so with enthusiasm and a spirit of love, a true sense of helpfulness. At a company I was with for many years, nicknamed that person, “The Voice of W ; He soon embodied the spirit and WHY of that growing company.
"Service with Love" is Principle #1 on the “SalesShip” mission. It’s a simple yet profound way to connect with people, inspire creativity, foster trust, while creating lasting relationships. It all starts with love and is served with enthusiasm capped by a "servants’ heart”. This approach will have a positive impact on your business and team.
