If you don't know Alex Low then you need to follow him. From the Social Selling Rap (liked by Vanilla Ice) which must be the most original blog on Social Selling this year!
To the Social Selling ROI (where he has worked out the actual $ value of a connection on LinkedIn) the holy grail of proving there is a return on investment (ROI) of social selling.
He has also found a connection between blogging and leads. Pause, take a breath.
Putting that differently, there is a direct connection between the number of blogs you put out and leads.
Just think about that for a second. There is now an ROI of blogging.
(The answer is 1 qualified lead for every 8.6 Posts)
(The Photo above, for those born after 1985 is of Vanilla Ice and not Alex Low)
Of course, if you don't need leads and meetings then finish reading here, there is nothing for you here. If you want more leads and meetings, read on...
In my blog "Sales People Writing Blogs? Bah-Humbug" I made the case for sales people writing blogs. And why not? We are expert writers? We write (compelling) internal and external emails, account plans, mobilize internal resources, write amazing responses to proposals. We are there, top of our game writers! .....
But I'm already hearing you say, yes Tim but ..... Blogging is for Marketing, I don't have time for this, I'm rubbish at writing, Tim you would say this you are a best selling author.
Two things:-
- I've sold at the top B2B companies and I'm now CEO of a small company (12 people) but I have never assumed other people will do my demand generation. Maybe with being a salesperson comes being a control freak. But business development and demand generation I've always wanted to be in control.
- There is actually a simple and quick way to blog. Passle. Before you think this is a cheeky advert, it's not (OK it is, but stick with me), we actually use Passle. Don't believe me, here is our Passle page.
Let's Blog Alex's Rap
- Find the article you want and highlight the text that you want to mention.
Type in your title and comment.
Come on when we read articles we all have an opinion. We can all write two lines ....
Publish.
Share.
Here it is published. Top Right.
Now that took me, 30 seconds.
Let's go back to that fact, 8.6 blogs can give you one lead.
So in under 5 mins you can create a lead and you don't have time for that?
A future blog will explain how you can get leads and meetings (as a salesperson or a SDR) with content. We will cover how you never have to cold outreach again (email or call) and why you can get higher, faster with social selling, than cold calling. OR you are having difficulty getting somebody on the phone, I'll show you something that will change your SDR game.

7 年Thanks for sharing Timothy. Social media bestowed salesperson a medium to convey their purported message other than sales call. Apart from sales blogging is much much more efficient as it which widens your reach and by 24 X7.

7 年Thanks Timothy (Tim) for this post! I've been writing a Sales blog for just over a year and a half now. Now, my blog isn't about my current job, but rather teaching all people and not just Salespeople how to sell better. I have met some amazing people through LinkedIN blogs, even received several job offers. Yes, I have had some luck with getting business through my blog as well, but for me it was more about just getting my ideas out there and finding my tribe. It's also very cathartic. I live/work in a small town and blogging is a way to connect with people all over the world about business and sometimes just life in general. I whole heartedly recommend blogging for Sales, as you've pointed out, everyone could use more business.

7 年My firm is a Hubspot Gold partner, Hubspot arguably invented/perfected Inbound Marketing. One thing to remember is "remarkable content is king", not "content is king", writing blogs etc for the sake of popping out a piece of content is a waste of time (and can seriously hurt your brand). - it must be "remarkable" ie is it interesting/compelling etc enough where people give a shit about it and will "remark".
