Salesforce Work.com Shift Management Tool - A New Way to Plan Shifts for a Safe Return to Work
A new normal is waiting for all of us, post the COVID pandemic. Offices will be operated with lower capacity. Planning employee shifts to minimize the risk of social spread is going to be a major task. Equipping shift managers in organizations is therefore very important and Salesforce Work.com is doing just that.
How does Salesforce Work.com help in planning Shifts?
With Salesforce Work.com’s Shift Management scheduling and staggering, shifts for employees returning to work will be automated to a specific level. Based on your organization's requirements, the multiple functionalities to Shift Management can be used for effective outcomes.
- Shift capacity setting: Workplace planners can set floor capacity and specify increments for staggered arrivals, maintaining social distancing to help support business continuity.
- Employee notification: After setting the shifts, employees can be notified in their mobile phones.
- Employee response: Based on availability, the employee can respond by selecting or deselecting the dates.
- Shift Scheduling: Once shift managers have visibility into their employees’ availability, they can begin scheduling by clicking the Optimize button. The tool will calculate and schedule based on role, availability and other parameters.
- Shift Staggering: To help ensure social distancing guidelines are followed, shifts are automatically optimized to stagger employee arrival times based on preset intervals for each location, and employees are notified to confirm their shifts.
- Employee boarding pass: Once the employee confirms their availability, an Arrival Boarding Pass is automatically sent. This pass admits them to the building during their assigned window to help ensure a staggered and safe arrival.
What are the different components in Shift Management?
Shift Management is built on top of Field Service Lightning and it uses FSL’s core features such as Shifts and the Dispatch Console. The Dispatch console from FSL has been presented as the Shift Scheduling tab here. The Workplace Command Center, another component of Work.com must be active as Shift Management automates related processes. Prior experience with setting up Field Service Lightning package will be helpful. Please find below an overview of the data architecture of Shift Management from Salesforce.
