The first meeting of the International Advisory Committee for AI organized by the Association of American Medical Colleges just took place and it felt that medical educators face huge challenges in preparing the healthcare workforce for this advanced technology. I hope this group will provide practical recommendations so others can start teaching AI in medical school the same way I've been doing that for years.
In the meantime, the FDA just cleared for marketing the first over-the-counter continuous glucose monitor, Salesforce launched a medical AI tool and AI was also proven to help diagnose ear infections at home! It was an exciting week.
SALESFORCE UNVEILS AI HEALTHCARE PLATFORM EINSTEIN 1
Another tech giant, Salesforce, enters the healthcare market. They just announced new AI solutions for healthcare workers that could help automate some of their administrative tasks such as booking appointments, summarizing patient information and sending referrals by prompting AI with conversational language.
"Salesforce said doctors can use Einstein Copilot: Health Actions to generate a patient summary that includes details like patients’ medications, clinical service requests, diagnoses and tests. By generating a summary with AI, physicians would no longer need to spend time looking up all those components independently."
