Salesforce Labs in AppExchange, what a surprise!

Salesforce Labs in AppExchange, what a surprise!

I've started my adventure in Salesforce few months ago and, let me say, every day is a brand new day discovering new products, features and capabilities of Salesforce Ecosystem.

Today I'd like to share to you my experience with AppExchange

What is AppExchange? It's simple: AppExchange is the marketplace for all things Salesforce, including apps, Lightning components, Flow solutions, and more.?

Yes it is a marketplace, where you can find solutions for your Org that extends the core functionality and address your business requirements.

I'm not going to describe AppExchange, there is a great Trail in Trailhead for this where you can learn more deeply this great resource.

I want to share MY EXPERIENCE with AppExchange

Few days ago I had a call with a Customer, they where looking for a solution to manage Events held around the world and they wanted me to arrange a demo.

I am a developer, I started thinking how to create the solution from scratch, new tables, relations, fields... and so on.

Naaaa, It is not the right way of thinking (remember I'm quite new ;)

Remember, there has been surely another company facing the same problem, the same process. Let's take a look to AppExchange (thank you Massimo Dalla Mura for your hint)

I went to AppExhcange web site and searched for Events. Here is the result: 1255 Apps! Yes, others had the same need ;)

Take a moment to see the result screen, you have the Apps list with rating and release date. But look more closely, there are paid apps but THERE ARE FREE APPS TOO!

Yes, many Apps are free thus I decided to try the Events (free) app. Here is the welcome page of Events.

I was trying to understand who developed it and it says "By Salesforce Labs"...hmmm let me dig a little bit more.

First let me try the app. Installing it was very smooth and the app capabilities are amazing. You can manage Events, Sessions, Tracks, Venues....expenses ... and much more, Dashboard included! wow!

But let me get back to Salesforce Labs ;)

Salesforce Labs is a program that lets salesforce.com engineers, professional services staff & other employees share AppExchange apps they've created with the customer community.

Inspired by employees' work with customers of all sizes and industries, these apps range from simple utilities to entire vertical solutions. Salesforce Labs apps are free to use, but are not official salesforce.com products, and should be considered community projects - these apps are not officially tested or documented.

There are hundreds of Salesforce Labs Apps!

Yes, these apps are Free to use and are developed from salesforce.com engineers, professional services staff & other employees thus from people that knows well the platform!

I was really surprised by the quality of the solution and the variety of apps available in Salesforce Labs.

Take a look and give them a try when you need a solution.

Remember: these apps are free but not supported by Salesforce.
