Sometimes when you dive into the world of Salesforce, it feels like it has its own special language.
It's like people are dropping these words without bothering to explain them, assuming everyone else will get it as they do.
But let's be real, not everyone speaks Salesforce fluently!
Today, in no particular order, I've put together a list of common Salesforce jargon and their real meanings.
I am sure, these terms will make you comfortable when chatting to any Salesforce seasoned pro.
Cloud: Cloud refers to a concept where data, applications, and services are stored and accessed remotely.
CRM: CRM stands for Customer Relationship Management. The goal is to improve customer satisfaction and drive business growth.
Apex:?Developer use Apex programming language to build applications on the Salesforce Platform.
AppExchange:?AppExchange is Salesforce's version of the Google Play or Apple App store. It serves as a marketplace for third-party apps and offerings.
DreamForce:?It is the world's largest technology conference. It is a yearly event organized by Salesforce.
SFDC:?Acronym for Salesforce dot com. It means the same thing as saying “Salesforce.”
Ecosystem: Refers to the community of businesses and products connected to Salesforce. It encompasses users, conferences, user groups, and online resources for learning and collaboration.
Lightning:?Salesforce’s updated user interface, released in 2015. New features and tools have been added to Lightning for better user experience.
API: API stands for Application Programming Interface. Salesforce API's enable secure and programmatic access to data in your Salesforce org from other applications or code.
Org: Org is?a specific configuration of a Salesforce organization. It is the customized configuration and interface that users see when they log in. Each org has unique data and metadata.
Instance: An instance refers to the dedicated server cluster hosting your Salesforce version. Customers are served from the same data center or server, which means they are on the same Salesforce instance.
Metadata: Metadata is “data about data”. Salesforce metadata is the configuration, code, logic, and page layouts that define how objects and records behave.
Object:?Objects in Salesforce are tables in the database where organization-specific data can be stored.

Record: Records correspond to rows in object database tables. They represent the tangible data associated with an object.
Account: Account is?any company that you're doing business with.
Contact: Contact is any individual who works for an Account.
Lead: A lead refers to a potential contact in the initial stages of the sales process, expressing interest in your product or service. It represents a prospect that shows promise for future engagement.
Opportunity: Opportunity represents a qualified lead that indicates the potential for a deal. Details of the deal are included in this object to make it easier for a sales rep to use.
Flow: Flow is?a Salesforce tool that automates complex business processes. Flow Builder is the declarative interface used to build individual flows.
Sandbox: It is a testing environment that allows you to replicate and create metadata from your production instance.
There you have it, twenty terms every Salesforce enthusiast should know.
