Sales vs. Marketing

Let's talk about the difference between sales and marketing, putting sales first, and listening and connecting to your audience.
Marketing is the idea of reaching people with messaging that resonates. Sales is understanding who you’re talking to, their problems, what you can offer as a solution, and connecting. For example, mall kiosk salespeople strike up conversations with you to open a problem and provide a solution. You can apply sales by sharing your own story to encourage your audience to share theirs, making them feel validated and supported. Listen closely to what they’re saying and look for a common problem that you can help with. Often, marketing kicks the sale further down the road. Sales can pave the way for your audience to come in sooner. Marketing is necessary after you’ve mastered your unique messaging so you can scale.
