According to the Department of Health and Human Services, adults should spend at least 150 minutes per week doing aerobic exercises at a moderate intensity and spend at least two days a week doing a muscle-strengthening activity like lifting weights. Yet only 24.2% of adults age 18 and older meet these guidelines.

In my journey building Selling Power magazine, interviewing industry leaders, and authoring 16 books on selling and motivation, one key insight has stayed with me. It's a piece of advice from Dr. Ken Cooper, the founder of Aerobics, who I interviewed in 1981. He said, "People don't die from their last disease; they die from their entire life."

I took his words to heart and started my fitness routine of weight training combined with aerobic exercise. It has helped me stay fit, stay positive, and stay competitive in a fast-growing, and rapidly changing media industry.

Remember, the tougher you are on yourself, the easier it will be to overcome life's most difficult challenges. As General Alexander Suvorov said, "train hard and fight easy."

I encourage you all to invest in your physical fitness. It's not just about living longer, but also about living better, thinking sharper, and selling stronger.
