Sales Skill: The Key to Professional Success and Effective Leadership

Sales Skill: The Key to Professional Success and Effective Leadership

The story of my professional journey is one of overcoming obstacles and seizing opportunities. At the age of 16 as a junior sales executive at a transport company. Despite my young age, I had to dress maturely and wear high heels to project confidence. I didn't have a car, so I had to walk long distances under the scorching sun every day. When asked about my age, I lied and claimed to be 19 instead of 16. I interacted with high-ranking executives in medium to large companies, reaching out to them, setting up meetings, and offering my solutions. It was an incredible experience that taught me valuable skills.

After this initial success, I transitioned to the real estate market where I gained knowledge and experience in all areas of the business. I was particularly drawn to product marketing, as it allowed me to work closely with the sales team, and I was fascinated by product ownership and launch. At the age of 21, I took on my first role in product and marketing management. The first product I launched sold 90% of its inventory in a single weekend, earning me a place in the company's history. However, I attribute this success not only to my individual efforts, but also to the collective actions and teamwork of the entire team.

After a few years in marketing, I decided to challenge myself in sales and became a realtor. I vividly remember a critical moment when I went a month without salary, struggling to make ends meet with rent and bills due on the 5th of the month. I had a sales call at a mall late at night, where a Japanese couple showed interest in a property that I didn't have available at that location. Despite this setback, I made an appointment to show them other options the next day. I had very little money left, only 10 reais in my pocket, and my car was running on reserve fuel. I skipped lunch and survived on water, but I was determined to make the sale. Finally, at 7:30 pm the next day, the couple decided to buy the property, and it was my first significant sale, a 168 sqm apartment. I was emotional, as this sale changed my life. It was my commission from this sale that helped me overcome my financial challenges and gave me a sense of accomplishment. I always remember this experience and empathize with my sales team, as we worked together until the deal was closed.

Years later, I received an exciting job offer to work on the picturesque island of Florianopolis, also known as the Magic Island. Without hesitating, I accepted the opportunity and moved there, joining the largest real estate company in Santa Catarina. I was happy and dedicated to my work, but I felt that something was missing - the excitement and butterflies of a launch day.

It was then that I received an invitation to join a company focused on Real Estate Intelligence as a sales manager. I led a fantastic team, and we consistently broke sales records year after year. Each sale made by a broker on my team felt like a personal achievement, and I embraced servant leadership, putting it into practice. It was during this time that I truly realized my potential as a professional. I achieved a dream that only a few could experience - living by the beach, not needing to drive, managing a team of 25 talented individuals, and feeling a sense of accomplishment every day.

Through my journey, I've learned that regardless of your profession, sales skills are invaluable. Being able to sell yourself, your ideas, and your solutions can set you apart in any field. Additionally, I've come to understand the power of people and the impact of effective leadership. Building and leading a motivated and empowered team can make all the difference in achieving success in your career.

?

So, my advice to others is to embrace challenges, work hard, and continuously develop your sales skills. Never underestimate the power of people and the importance of leadership. With determination, perseverance, and a focus on people and sales, you can overcome obstacles and achieve success in your professional journey.
