Sales Recruitment

I often get asked what industry I enjoy recruiting for. For me it's not an area but a person. Recruitment is about finding the right people for my client and their team. There is one space that I thoroughly enjoy recruiting for though, Sales.

Sales is not a talent you can teach. You either have it or you don't. It is definitely a tough role that requires someone with thick skin. Being able to pick up the phone, call someone you've never met and ask them for business is not easy. Personally, it gives me a thrill and the buzz I get when that call is successful...... worth every nerve!

My enjoyment for recruiting in Sales, Business Development, Merchandising, Account Management and Sales Reps comes from meeting like minded people. When a client comes to me with a role, the first thing I will ask is, "Who do you want?" I will already have met the client and their team because I can't put the right person in that role if I haven't met who they're going to sit with. That's impossible. I've made that daunting call and asked for that visit. I understand that the hard work has to go in before someone is going to entrust me with their time and money.

I know my methods are classed as 'old school'. I know a lot of Recruiters now do everything from a computer. That's just not me. If I'm going to be approached by a client and asked to find a Sales person, then I need to be leading by example.
