Sales and marketing agency appoints additional Marketing Account Manager to keep up with growth.
Auckland-based sales and marketing agency, Attain NZ, have brought on the highly experienced Shannon Tatana as Marketing Account Manager to meet client demand.
With 15 years’ experience in account management roles across various industries in the UK and in New Zealand, Attain’s Head of Marketing, Alexandra Donaghy, says Shannon was the perfect fit for the team.
“Shannon has a wealth of untapped talent that we are excited by. That, alongside her current marketing expertise means she’ll be an asset for all of our clients.”
Tatana has worked as an account manager in several industries including charities, oil and gas, in the British security and foreign intelligence services, and in business and marketing agencies – the area she enjoys the most.
“With business and marketing, I’m most passionate about people and their unique stories, and I think marketing is a great tool to showcase those hidden gems that exist in all companies.
“When it comes to clients, I like to develop a relationship that develops into a partnership. I basically live and breathe their business as much as they do.
Tatana came to New Zealand in 2012, making the decision to follow her family back and connect with her Kiwi roots, with her Dad being born here.
“Dad grew up in Levin and Mum in England. Both moved to Australia in their young adulthood where they later met and relocated to the UK. With the plan to always move back eventually, I’m glad they chose New Zealand over Australia as it’d be horrible living with snakes and spiders,” she laughs.
On working at Attain, Tatana says she’s most excited by the prospect of bringing the newest and most accurate knowledge and strategies to each respective client.
“In terms of Attain, it’s great because I don’t think I’ve ever been in a company that is actively pursuing how they can be ahead of the market.
“Having time set aside to learn about what’s on the horizon I think gives us an edge as we can be suggesting things to our clients before anyone else is even aware of it.”
What’s made Tatana so successful and personable in her role, is the ability to really listen, learn and understand clients’ lives, businesses, and what they need – it’s something she credits to an important life lesson.
“I used to be quick black and white, but I suppose over the years there’s been some hard experiences in my life that have really flawed me. They made me realise there’s so much more to people and their stories than we think - it could be small, or it could be large, but everyone is carrying something.
“Now, I listen to what others’ pain points are and what they actually need help with, rather than just seeing clients as a way of helping us achieve our own targets. My belief is that if you concentrate on relationships, the ROI will follow.
Donaghy says they recruited for the Marketing Account Manager role after a solid year for business in 2020.
“Due to the huge growth Attain has experienced in the last year, we needed another person to come on board to ensure each of our clients’ receive the care and attention they deserve to be able to grow.”
She is confident that Tatana will be able to achieve results for clients and says everyone at Attain welcomes her to the team.
