I am writing this for the sales leader who has just said “Enough is enough!! I am tired of feeling tired and weak all the time!! I need to change my health around!!!” and then you ask yourself? “now I do not know where to start”.?
Good news this blog is written for you with 5 steps to follow.?
By the way, My name is Joshua Hulsebosch, but everyone calls me “Coach Chance”. I am the founder of Online Exercise Coaching. We work with Sales Leaders who want to be as successful in their health as they are in their sales career. I have personally worked with 100s of clients over the last 10 years and developed fitness courses for the sales coaching industry leader Sales Gravy.?
In this blog I will try to keep the extra words out so you tackle these steps as soon as possible.?
Step 1. Set a new standard
Accept the anger and frustration as it is you not standing for the level of unhealthy you have allowed yourself to fall to. Do not suppress it with a strong drink or high calorie meal.?
Whatever goal you want to reach, start asking yourself what would a person who already has the body you want do in every situation you now come across.?
I had a client, Jim, who recently signed up. After talking about goals I asked him what the new Jim would do differently then the current Jim? “He does not snack,” stated Jim. 3 weeks later Jim was 11 lbs lighter but making that mental shift and acting according to his new standard.?
Imagine if I snapped my fingers and you gained 200 lbs. How hard would you work to lose that weight because that is so beyond your current standard that you hold yourself to.?
That is the same drive I want you to have now that you have a new identity.?
Step 2. Set an alarm for your bed time and go to bed the same time every night.?
You work in the most challenging position of any business… sales. The lifeblood of every company. You are under constant stress and need to make decisions every day.?
The primary cause of burn out that I see in my clients is not recovering enough between stressors.?
The biggest bang for your buck is sticking to the same bed time. That allows the body to get used to the time of day you go to bed and allows you to have more of an efficient sleep.?
Better sleep = better decision making = easier healthy choices.?
There was a study conducted on the military of Canada. Those who had consistent bedtimes and consistent sleep duration had the best mental health. Those who did not reported depressive episodes and greater mental struggle.?
There is a lot we can do to improve your sleep but a consistent bedtime and length (regardless of interruptions of children) is the best place to start.?
Step 3. Find the required intake you need for your goal

You can also use any other calculator online that uses the same Harris and Benedict Equation.?

You will be surprised that you will not have to change much in your diet to hit your goal. Funny enough most clients of mine are asked to eat more of what they love aka protein!
Quick tip: Don’t beat yourself up if you go over on a day. I encourage my clients to look at weekly totals. If you go over one day just adjust the rest of the week.?
Step 4. Track your metrics
This is the hardest part. No one truly enjoys entering their information into the CRM I know! But it is vital.?
How can we know how well we are doing in a month or quarter without tracking our metrics?
I recommend cronometer https://cronometer.com/
It is free, has a barcode scanner, and a huge database of food. If we didn’t offer our clients our own nutrition tracker we would all be using cronometer.?
I have been training clients for 15 years. Those who tracked their nutrition were successful. Those who didn't track their nutrition were not successful (until they finally gave in and tracked).?
Step 5. Walk… daily
Majority of sales leaders I meet are at 110% of their mental capacity within their job and at home. Their stress levels tend to be so high that adding the additional stress of heavy exercise is not beneficial for them.?
This is why we focus on recovery as step two.?
I have had so many clients from the past who expect hard core exercise out of the gate and are surprised when I say to walk 30 minutes a day at a challenging pace.?
This allows us to build the habit of moving daily, which will transform into exercise in the near future, and burn close to 300 calories.?
This paired with tracking your nutrition will create serious magic. Like 2-3lbs lost a week of magic. Like fitting in that suit, feeling confident, and more at peace magic in a matter of a month.
Hitting your new standard or goal of health does not require pain or extreme steps.
