"At times, the sales position is seen as a last resort for those who may not have the qualifications for other jobs. However, this role is essential in any company that sells products or services..."
Have you ever thought about how to turn a simple conversation into a business? Imagine every handshake, presentation, and closed deal becoming the foundation to drive the economy. This is the world of sales, where every transaction is the key to business success.
Sales are the lifeblood of every business. Without sales development, businesses cannot grow, profit, or survive for long. No matter your role—whether you’re a salesperson, a sales leader, the founder of a new venture, or an experienced entrepreneur—understanding the world of sales can transform both your sales achievements and your business journey.
Sales isn’t just about closing deals. It’s a long process that starts with finding potential customers, understanding their needs, offering solutions, and helping to facilitate transactions that benefit both parties.
Simply put, sales is the activity of selling products or services. It includes finding prospects (potential buyers), ensuring they are the right target, offering the product, negotiating, and finally closing the sale. The essence of sales is creating value for both the seller and the buyer, fulfilling customer needs while achieving business targets.

The role of sales is crucial.
Here are some direct contributions of sales:
Given the tremendous benefits of sales, salespeople should feel proud of their role, rather than viewing it as a fallback for those without strong educational backgrounds or other qualifications, as with some other professions. Nor should it be seen as a last resort because there are no other suitable or available professions. This not only diminishes the sales position within a company but also affects the quality of people who join the sales team, which in turn will limit their potential.
Consider other roles, such as accounting or law. Professionals in these fields typically invest years in education and training to excel in their careers. In contrast, many salespeople often depend largely on experience or guidance from more seasoned colleagues. However, the question remains: do these senior salespeople provide the right mindset and skillset to their juniors? We can’t say for certain. What we do know is that, unfortunately, many companies tend to overlook the importance of developing their sales teams.
Therefore, for every company to have a great sales team, it must ensure the right commitment and qualifications are in place for salespeople to effectively market their products. If further competency or character development is required for salespeople already on the team, the company has an obligation to provide that development. This will help maximize the role and function of each salesperson and ensure all the benefits mentioned above are realized.

1 个月I agree with you !! Become sales person is very challanging and we should be proud with our role. When we talk about sales we are not only talking about selling product, but we talk about strategy and art. Every sales person have their own style and every customer have defferent treatment. That's why I think every company should pay more attention to salesperson, such as providing training to improve sales skills.
