SALES IMPLICATION METRICS of Your Offers from Known Average OPEN and CLICK-THROUGH Rates

We are, constantly, in search of new solutions and efficient ways to optimize our marketing efforts.

Whatever your offers may be, based upon their intrinsic strengths, consider the following events:

O = { a prospect opens your offer/communication }

C =  { a prospect clicks through to your offer link within your communication }

 S = { you actually make a successful sale }

Now, let’s determine a few inexorable probabilities, which you must consider, for success. 

Your average open rate for your offer will, likely, be between 15% - 25% of prospects reached.

Therefore, on average, the pr ( a Prospect Opens Your Offer or Communication )

= pr ( O ) = 1/5.

Your average click-through rate will, likely, be between 2% - 3% of prospects opening your offer.

Therefore, on average, the pr ( a Prospect Clicks on the Ad Link within Your Offer | It was Actually Opened ) 

= pr ( C | O ) = 1/40.  

Your average successful sales rate for your offer will, likely, be between 3% - 5% of prospects reached, who then actually open your offer and who also opt to click on your offer link, inside.

 Therefore, the pr ( S | ( O and C ) ) = 1/25.      

Hence, conservatively, and certainly depending on the strength of your offer, your probability of making one sale is, definitively:

Pr( O and C and S ) = pr ( O ) * pr( C | O ) * pr ( S | ( O and C ) ) = 1/5 * 1/40 * 1/25 = 

1 / 5000 ,

i.e., you must reach at least 5000 prospects in order to expect to make at least one sale !
