Sales is: Harmonic (Part 4 or 4)

Sales is: Harmonic (Part 4 or 4)

Idea: Sales is Emotional Regulation & Harmony for yourself and those you serve.

To create for yourself and others, this last piece of the framework is key. You Create. You Perform. You Set your Rhythms. And now you pursue internal and external Harmony.

Just like an instrument, our emotions need constant tuning. When you’re emotionally attuned - confident, patient, compassionate, and resilient - you create a sense of inner harmony. This balance naturally resonates in your interactions with prospects.

Prospects, too, operate on their own emotional frequencies. When they are in tune - receptive, goal-oriented, positive, and leaning into the conversation - we can create harmony together as we guide them down the path. They experience a spectrum of emotions when deciding to invest in you, your solution, and your company.

Our Sound Board

Imagine a sound board with a range of emotional settings. What are your default "house" levels? Consider the spectrum we slide along:

  • H-umility (to Arrogance) in learning
  • A-bundance (to Scarcity) in mindset
  • R-esilience (to Fragility) with challenges
  • M-astery (to Incompetence) of knowledge
  • O-wnership (to Victim) in mentality
  • N-uance (to Over-Simplification) in communication
  • I-ntuition (to Over Thinking) in decision-making
  • C-onnection (to Disconnection) with others

"Always aim at complete harmony of thought and word and deed. Always aim at purifying your thoughts and everything will be well." - Mahatma Gandhi

Each prospect you engage has their own default levels. Sales is the art of adjusting everyone's levels to align and harmonize.

Life's experiences, especially the traumas, may adjust your levels downward. But those settings can always be recalibrated. Your emotional range is still there - waiting.

In future issues, and through contemplation and action, we'll keep exploring all of these ideas so you never again have to say, "I'm not a salesperson." ????

Rhythm: This week, let's work on tuning one of these two dials:

  1. Humility - This week, actively seek feedback from someone who can challenge you. Approach it with an open mind, and rather than defending your position, ask yourself, “What can I learn from this?” Let curiosity guide your response to critiques, turning them into opportunities for growth. Also, slow down. When we rush, we're going through the motions and not observing enough to learn anything.
  2. Intuition - Listen to your gut more as you face new challenges. Tune into your impulses, speak up, and notice the human connections you make when you lean less into doubt and more into flow.

Really appreciate this perspective, that is so easy to forget: “Each prospect you engage has their own default levels. Sales is the art of adjusting everyone's levels to align and harmonize.”
