A Sales Director's Experience with the Fitbit Ionic
Full disclosure: I do not work for Fitbit, nor am I an Affiliate with Fitbit. This article is meant to speak to my experiences with Fitbit from a fitness and work perspective.
I got a jump start on one of my 2018 goals a few months ago and wanted to share my experience:
Only a short time ago (2 years), I was 315 lbs (at 6'9") with a low bodyfat, a resting heart rate of 58 and able to squat 550lbs easily.
About a month ago, I realized that my health wasn't exactly what it used to be. I had been to the doctor, and my BP was much higher than usual. Additionally, my resting heart rate was a whopping 85. I was 305 pounds with no energy and high stress. I left the doctor's office knowing that I needed to change.
I started by cleaning up my diet. No more junk food and the quick fix foods that we as professionals seem to sometimes rely on too much. My day starts now with a smoothie of organic carrot juice, organic apple juice, ginger, lime, orange (squeezed in), mixed berries, banana, agave and 20 grams egg white protein. No more fast food burgers. Instead, it was lean proteins and veggies. The clean eating got me down 10 pounds in a month.
For Christmas, my wife bought me a Fitbit Ionic. This was probably the single best gift I could have ever received! Now I can track my sleep, water intake, steps per day, heart rate (at all times), activity level, calories burned, and a few other things I'm forgetting. The key feature for me is the workout plans. It can be hard for me to stop what I'm working on and head to the gym. With the Ionic, I can hit a button and go through a 7 minute workout when I have a few moments right in my office. For me, as a fairly busy sales director, this is worth it's weight in gold!
Since I received the Fitbit Ionic, I have lost an additional 2.5 pounds! My resting heart rate is now around 62, I drink a gallon of water and day and blow through my 6000 each day.
Why am I writing this? The reason is I want to highlight that no matter how busy you may be, or what level of health you currently have there are technologies available to help you get to your goals. As a sales director, I constantly talk to my team about things like passive lead generation, mass marketing to targeted audiences and how we can leverage technology to work for you. Your health and well being is the same. My Fitbit does the heavy lifting for me, and as a result I can focus my time and attention to other aspects of my life.
